Maine Jellet studied at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art and later in the London under Sir William Orpen and Walter Sickert. In 1921, she travelled to Paris with her friend the artist, Evie Hone where the studied under the guidance of the Cubist André Lhôte and Albert Gleizes. Gleises acted as her key tutor in her developing her theory and practice of Cubism. Jellet was a key figure in the development of the modern movement in Irish art. A major retrospective was held at the Irish Musuem of Modern Art in 1991.
